SoCraTes Day Berlin 2017

Join us for the first SoCraTes Day Berlin happening on October 7, 2017 at Leanovate GmbH!
A full day OpenSpace unconference for all craftspeople, be it aspiring or experienced.

If you want to participate in the lottery, please "Register" and "Join the waitinglist" on EventBrite! The first lottery drawing will happen on August 13.

In the spirit of all the other SoCraTes Unconferences and Days, we'll be doing an OpenSpace unconference.
This means that there will be no conference schedule upfront. Instead, you, the participants, create the schedule in the morning of the conference.

Bring your topics and we take care of the rest! Do you want to talk about your agile process or try out a new workshop format? Maybe show off your latest pet project in Elm? Or do you want to know how to learn a particular language? Monads maybe? Or want to brew the perfect coffee with other coffee afficiandos? Whatever happens is the only thing that could happen, and whoever comes is the right person for your session!

Lottery

We're starting out small and will not charge for tickets except for a deposit, which will be fully refunded if you show up on the event. The publicly available tickets are limited to 30 tickets. We have additional tickets reserved for international guests and for people of underindexed groups in tech. Feel free to reach out to us if you'd like to claim one of these reserved tickets.

The lottery starts on Jul 30. The first winners will be drawn on August 13. You then have 24 hours to make the deposit and claim your ticket, otherwise the next person will be drawn at random. Please consider not to use SOFORT when paying the deposit, as refunds are rather complicated with them.

Framework Programme

Arriving early? We got you covered! Raimo's favorite coworking space in Berlin, office-club will gladly welcome you on Friday. And the best: It's on us! If you further want to retreat into one of their meeting rooms, we will happily reserve one for you - just tell us.

There will also be a pre-conference dinner and we will of course spend Saturday evening in a cozy restaurant near the venue.

We're further trying to get a tour at the ESBZ, famous for their appearance as a case study in Frederik Laloux' book Reinventing Organizations, but please note that this will - if any - either take place on Thursday (October 5) or Monday (October 9).

Code of Conduct

We are a community of professionals, and we conduct ourselves professionally. This also means overcoming systemic discrimination, stereotyping and violence against people with less privilege.

Our Code of Conduct is available here. By attending the event, you agree to honor the Code Of Conduct. In case of an incident, we reserve the right to exclude aggressors from the conference.

We will have a telephone number posted at the venue as a point of contact for reporting incidents.

Schedule

Not much of a schedule here, remember it's an OpenSpace ;-) The conference will start at 8:30 with a short introduction to the format and the opening of the marketplace. We will close the conference by 17:30.

Venue

We're excited to have Leanovate host our first Open Space in Berlin. Their office has a room for every session format you can imagine! Additionally, they are also sponsoring all food and beverages for the event.

The venue is on a higher floor but has an elevator.

Public transport is pretty decent in Berlin. Some routes to the venue below, depending on from where you come from:

- Motel One Spittelmarkt: Bus 248 (S Südkreuz) till Blücherplatz
- Motel One Berlin Mitte: 20 minutes walk or Bus 140 (S+U Tempelhof) from Prinzenstr./Ritterstr. till Urbanstr./Baerwaldstr.
- Berlin SXF Airport: Train S45 (S Südkreuz) till S Köllnische Heide, then Bus M41 (S+U Hauptbahnhof) till Tempelherrenstr.
- Berlin TXL Airport: Bus TXL till Hauptbahnhof, then see below.
- Berlin Central Station: Bus M41 (Sonnenallee/Baumschulenstr.) till Tempelherrenstr.
- Berlin Alexanderplatz: Bus 248 (S Südkreuz) till Blücherplatz
- Next subway stations: U-Bhf Gneisenaustraße (U7) and U-Bhf Hallesches Tor (U1, U6)

Accomodation

We reserved a quota at Motel One - Berlin Spittelmarkt. Please note in your registration if you need a room and we will send you the form (english version available). Furthermore, Motel One - Berlin Mitte is a 20 minutes walk away from the venue. The quota is valid for rooms booked from 6. to 8. October. Motel One hotels usually have decent cancellation policies.

Please note that you have to pay for the hotel yourself.
